KLFF Week Seven: Half Way Home

We are now halfway through the season folks, and it has been quite a trip. Four teams have held the top spot, and parody continues to expand. This week featured underwhelming performances by all teams, excluding the important matchup of the Cubs and Puma; the Patriots put up huge numbers yet again.
As we look to the rest of the season, the playoffs loom ever closer while the bye week continues to complicate matters.
Let's look at the standings through the first half.

Matchups

Obviously the biggest game of the week was Puma Pounce vs. the Cubs. A Cubs win evens up the top teams to 4-2, while a Puma victory means sole possession of first place. Neither team had a huge bye disadvantage, with the Pats and Colts all available for the big game.
The end result was a huge victory by Ernie's cats, with Brady and Welker again going over 50 points combined. Even with Peyton back in town and a big game for Dallas D, the Cubs could not put up enough points to overcome a pounce. Overall solid, double-digit gains led to the large victory. Puma can now claim the overall lead in KOCHLEAGUE.

Golden Boy's win streak was snapped in a hearbreaker to xfl. As said here last week, i miss is back with a vengeance, and although the point total wasn't dominate, it is still a W. The Boy almost pulled it off at the end of the Bears game, with Griese leading an improbable 96 yard charge for a last second TD, but the strike was just short of miraculous, and xfl came away with the win.

The Rhetoricians hope to be starting a long win streak with their victory over Saccamano. This week again left Bob with too many byes, too many injuries, and not enough action. The Rhetoricians won easily, even with two huge byes that were left neglected. T.O. was back to form this week.

KOCHTEAM, fresh off an enormous charge, could not put up half as many points in a sad defeat to the computer. This is not human's second victory of the year, and it leaves Koch shaking his head in disgust as he leaves the ranks of the league leaders. Both teams had overall consistent play but not one player who really shined. Plaxico ended with only 4 points, which erased any chance for a KOCH victory.

High Man (or Woman)

Puma Pounce was easily tops in the league, as one of two teams that broke 100. The 142 points were an impressive showing indeed. Ernie hopes to continue this production to keep the number one spot as the second half begins.

Looking Ahead

Another big match lies ahead for Puma, who faces KOCHTEAM in next week's marquee matchup. Koch looks to regain a share of the league lead with a victory, while Ern defends the castle and tries to pull away even further from the competition. Both teams have significant byes to deal with.

The Cubs take on Bob Saccamano, who has most of his starters back in place. Ali needs to survive without the Dallas defense, but Sac's luck has been low this season.

Golden Boy looks to rebound against the Rhetoricians, fresh off of their second victory of the year. GB loses Romo for the week, but Jim's group lacks four key starters, including TO and The Edge.

Finally, xfl faces the computer, who is entirely depleted by injuries. This should be a no brainer match for xfl, all but ensuring their place as a solid number 2 and possibly tied for the league lead.

***NOTE***

After a few weeks of watching managers lose games because of their lack of consistency, I, the commissioner have decided to take more control with roster decisions. Bye week or injured players who are in the starting lineup will be replaced with team subs already on the roster. Please note, I will not be adding any new players to rosters whatsoever, but simply dragging-and-dropping available players from the bench. For some teams this still may result in empty slots, but I am trying to get a little bit more parody through Week Ten. Email me with any questions.

The second half begins. Leadership trends emerge, but are they the true playoff picture at this point? We can only wait and watch...
