Yet again we find ourselves seeking new answers and awaiting even more questions.
Hey fans, it is Thursday already! Let's get to it.
Yes, Desmond on the helicopter, we know right away we will be getting some answers about the flight. The pilot has an awfully huge bandaid, what is up with that. And he is following Daniel's bearing exactly, smart man. The men want answers about the freighter, just like us. Uh oh, turbulence friends.
Poor Desmond, he is confused as ever. Is this in the future, the past, one of his flashes of the future from the past? I know he was in the army before. And then he flashes back to the helicopter. Oh snap, Desmond says the dream is vivid, then back on the copter he doesn't even know why he is there. He is surely some sort of time traveler/mystery person.
Where is the helicopter? Is it Lost for real, or is this whole island time thing messing with their actual arrival time? Yes, more questions. And Daniel would like to answer them, but Charlotte is resisting. Daniel is a good person. Ah, here is a small explanation of the time anomoly. Or...maybe not. Thanks Lost writers, you tease us even further.
Finally, we see the freighter!! We have been waiting folks. Desmond, you know who Penny is, just remember man! We don't need any more mystery. Why are the Freighters so upset about bringing them back? The two guys seem to assume that the time shift has affected his brain and are not at all surprised. Oh man, back to military training. This is getting annoying really, not that intriguing to me. We need more freighter time and less Desmond time. But hopefully this will answer some of the time questions. Dude, there is another person in the room with Des, another man who is experiencing this crazy time thing. More answers and more questions, standard Lost fare.
It seems that this boat has a few people in charge, just that none of the island landers are the leaders. Jack's phone is ringing - Sayid, please ask him about the time change. Daniel has an idea about the trouble with Desmond. It is not amnesia, it is something much worse!! Side effects of the island travel. Now Desmond confronts his roommate while the doctor shoots him up with more of a "cure." Interesting. The doctor is fully prepared for D's freakout. And... back to the military. Come on folks, what is this all about??? Desmond calls Penny!! Yea, except that he broke up with her, right? Yup, she is quite mad of course. Desmond is lost, oh no Penny, we need you too!! Sayid, taking action! Oh no, doctor hits the alarm, and Farraday really wants to help, but Desmond thinks it is 1996. 1996!!! Way back when, when D was in the army. Desmond needs to find past Farraday! Okay, now this is a sweet twist! Now, if he does find him in the past, how will this affect the future, if at all!!?! Alright, let's go folks.
This time split has happened before, sometimes at different intervals. Farraday is feeding him all kinds of info, including a guy named Eloise?? What does this mean? Alright, here he is in Oxford, telling him he is from the future! He thinks it is a prank, but Eloise convinces him. Dan obviously is some sort of man scientist, as they playfully mess with the physics of time travel. Can the past affect the future? Will this meeting affect the future between Desmond and Farraday? Heloise, is the rat, and the experiment should treat the rat like Desmond, traveling rat in time! Okay, weird, wild stuff. The rat's mind has traveled to the future and returned with new knowledge. Man, these Freighters are just nasty people.
Minkowski, the supposed leader of the boat, is now locked up, crazy about time travel like Desmond. And he was receiving calls from Penelope!! Who told them to block those calls, and why?
Farraday is hypothesizing, and the rat has died. What about Desmond? This is so strange. Lost has officially jumped into complete scifi, fully giving into real ideas of time travel!!! This is big, so we now know that supernatural explanations are full game. Minkowski went nuts, and someone sabotaged the radio equipment!! Looks like the Losties do indeed have a friend on the boat - one Ben ally perhaps? Poor Desmond, he must find Penny. Nice, a Black Rock reference! And the seller is from the Hanso foundation. There is Penny's father, Widmore, snatching up the Black Rock log. Good call, Damon and Carlton.
Who is Minkowski's boss? Where are orders coming from? Apparently the captain is really in charge and someone to be reckoned with. The freighter dates are 2004, so the freighter is the same as Lostie time. Desmond is now scared, he may surely die! He is running out of time.
Come on Past Desmond, snap into it! Penny be home! Desmond appeals to the small amount of love she has left, and of course she will oblige - this is Lost. Great job, Sayid, fixing the tech gizmos. Ahh, another battery problem for Sayid, he is always dealing with expiring batteries. BTW, something else better happen this episode, otherwise it is a huge disappointment as far as the plot goes. Desmond has found the constant, and now we know that Penny loves him!!! She will pursue him to the end. This is great drama people, if you are not crying right now... okay, maybe I am being a bit extreme.
And he now has his capacity back, so let us get to some action before we run out of time. Who is on the freighter, what will happen next. Oh no, Daniel is very concerned on island, I feel the end of the episode coming. Shoot, basically nothing resolved at all. All we know is that the time mix up is real and it is very random for each person. How does that help?
Wow, Desmond is Daniel's constant. Great, wink wink guys. But who really cares right now? Are we supposed to be impressed by this bit of cleverness? Is it me, or is Lost relying on a clever reveal at the end of every episode now? Oh well
Are my initial reactions too negative? Respond now and let me know what you thought.
Look out for analysis this weekend.
The saga continues, Wu Tang.
