The second quarter of KOCHLEAGUE fantasy football saw three teams rise to the top of the league, along with the empty promises of some teams that may have been able to take their place.
Week 5
KOCHTEAM 112 Steve Slaton emerges with 21, Lee Evans 18
Saunders 94 Minnesota D 26, Greg Jennings continues a great streak with 14, just not quite enough this week
Cubs 82 Andre Johnson wakes up with 19, Chris Cooley 16
Penny 64 2 Byes are a killer, Crayton and Marshall total 9, Green Bay D only 4
Puma 64 3 players in double digits, however, all receivers = 9, Buffalo D = -4, the off week that all fantasy teams have at some point in the season
Golden 124 Chicago D 30, Romo & T.O. combine for 28, Hines Ward 15
Rhet 87 Housh is big with 20 and Portis 21, but no one else heeds the call
A 115 6 players with 15 or more points, the Colts put up huge numbers this week
High Man
Golden Boy asserts its dominance over the league with 124, outperforming all others and remaining undefeated.
Week 6
Puma 100 This game was balanced on both sides, with many double digit leaders on either team. Yet another game for H.E. Pennypacker that is so close, good enough to beat other league teams, but still not enough for the contest at hand.
Penny 97 Ben Watson ends with 0 points, costing the game.
Golden Boy 64 Her inevitable loss and down week, similar to Puma’s week last week with indeed the same score. All but two players under 8 fantasy points.
A 136 Indy D with 39! Colts huge all around, Roddy White emerges with 17 big ones.
Cubs 79 Andre Johnson with 21, mostly single digits. Addai ends with a big 0.
Saunds 91 Three 0’s, yet Barber has 22 and Minnesota D relives its former glory with 27.
KOCH 100 Big performers save the day: Philly D 26, Brees 24, Braylon busts out with 23
Rhet 96 Big days over 20 for Portis, Harrison, and Derek Anderson, but gives up the win leaving Pitt D on the bench
High Man
A Team back on top with 136. Big game for the Indianapolis Colts means a big week for Tim.
Week 7
Cubs 97 AP 24, Andre Johnson 14, Roth 16 – consistent performers
Rhet 69 3 byes!!! Putting up respectable numbers each week, especially Pittsburgh D. If Beitler gets in the game, it could be a second half turnaround.
Puma 112 10 huge points from IDP Lamarr Woodley, 23 from Calvin Johnson as Roy Williams is traded to Dallas, 33 points from the RBs
Saunds 64 Steve Smith 18, Barber 15, everyone else in single digits, along with Carson Palmer’s 0 points from injury.
KOCH 107 All players with 7 or more points except for the kicker
A 25 2 byes, plus the Colts 4 players combine for 11 total points!! The lowest point total in league history.
Golden 131 Everyone scores 12 or more fantasy points except for T.O.’s 3; Chicago D with 34. A total rout on all accounts.
Penny 91 SJax bangs out 35! GB D 24, but not much else.
High Man
Golden Boy bounces back from a horrible week with a reminder of who the number one team is, posting 131. Boom.
Week 8
Golden 108 Romo out, but Schaub, Baltimore D, and Santana Moss over 20 points, not much else.
Saunds 76 Steve Smith 23, LT is back with 22, yet too many byes
Penny 36 3 byes, SJax 0. Just an off week.
A Team 70 Peyton 23, Roddy White 23, Indy Stinks it up; Indy D -2
KOCH 103 Brees 23, Boldin’s return with 21, 24 from RBs
Cubs 60 Plax 1, AP Bye , Julius Jones lends only 2.
Puma 99 Rivers 24, Vincent Jackson steps in with 12 winning points
Rhet 84 Westbrook 32! Pitt D 2, 2 byes. Yet another week where the win is clearly given up.
High Man
Golden Boy takes the top spot yet in a down week with 108. KOCH and Puma try to catch her, but it just isn’t happening yet.
Overview
As previously stated, three teams emerged as league leaders, while the rest of the pack remains tightly joined. The first half is over and anything can still happen.
